Yellow Aster Butte Hike - Updated 09-08
Last year we missed most of the views on this hike due to cloud cover. This year it was hazy but at tleast we got to see all the views and eat blueberries all the wya up and back! The first 35 photos in the gallery are new from our September 17, 2008 hike.
Yellow Aster Butte is in the North Cascades and is known for its beauty and glorious show of mountain peaks including the American Border Peaks and Mt. Tomyhoi to the north and northwest, Goat Mountain, Mt. Shuskan and Mt. Baker to the south and southeast and many more. Our hike took us 7.7 miles roundtrip and 2,200 feet of elevation gain in and out. You can do more or less depending on where you go once up in the higher country.
The real beauty of this hike is in the fall colors and the beautiful Yellow Aster Basin itself! The wild blueberries were in a blaze of reds and oranges and full of fruit. Some shots may look oversaturated but that is how they came out of the camera. All I did was brighten and improve contrast a little.
